Methodology

Estimates, with the factor written down.

A PACT entry can stay a note. If you add a quantity, Climact can show an estimate. The estimate is not a certified inventory. You can't improve what you don't measure, and the measure here is the week you actually had, times a published factor.

Electricity

Grid electricity uses the weighted average emission factor from the Central Electricity Authority, CO2 Baseline Database for the Indian Power Sector, User Guide Version 22.0 (August 2026). For FY 2025–26, including renewable energy and grid-connected captive power, and adjusted for cross-border transfers, that factor is 0.675 tCO2/MWh, which is 0.675 kg CO2 per kWh.

Travel

Road factors are from the India GHG Program paper on India-specific road transport emission factors (WRI / India GHG Program). Rail factors are from the India GHG Program rail paper, passenger figures for 2014–15. They are old on purpose: that is the year the paper publishes. They do not apply to metro or bus rapid transit.

  • Intracity bus: 0.015161 kg CO2 per passenger-kilometre. Not for intercity buses or BRTS.
  • Scooter under 110 cc: 0.0334 kg CO2 per kilometre, before the paper's optional 10 percent uplift. This is a vehicle-kilometre. One rider is assumed.
  • Suburban rail: 0.007976 kg CO2 per passenger-kilometre (2014–15). Not for metro.

Water

Log litres, or a note, if you know them. This page does not convert water into carbon dioxide. A single India-wide factor for municipal water is not used here.

Try a week

Estimate: 0.00 kg CO2. This uses only the factors above. Walking is not added. Water is not converted. Metro is not converted.
